Canadian WWI Posters

Collection Info
Illustrated poster of two soldiers in maple leaf pointing to poster reading Small Nations Must ...

These posters — also known as "broadsides" — are from Canada during the First World War. They were made by different government agencies.

Here's an overview of the initial recruitment effort (from Canadian Posters from the First World War, a virtual exhibit by Archives of Ontario):

"In 1914 only three thousand men were on the roster of the regular Canadian army. An appeal was immediately launched for recruits to join the Canadian Expeditionary Force and, as in Britain, large numbers joined up during the euphoria of the first months of the war."
