Original Toronto Star caption: Locked-out Moslems pray in the snow; Nineteen Moslems; with shoes off; kneel on prayer rugs laid on the snow outside Jami' Mosque in last night's 32-degree weather. They were locked out of the mosque; a former Presbyterian church on Boustead Ave.; because they have not paid $112 fee to become members of the Moslem Society of Toronto. Leader of the group; University of Toronto Professor Qadeer Baig; said under Islamic law a mosque may never be closed to believers but society president Ayub Ali says until mortgage is paid; building is not a true mosque.
