Original Toronto Star caption: New Ferry for Manitoulin Island. New ferry between Tobermory and South Bay Mouth on Manitoulin Island was launched during a snowstorm at Collingwood last Saturday. The yet un-named vessel will replace two boats now used on the run in Lake Huron. It is 360 feet long with a beam of 62 feet and will carry 110 cars and 500 passengers. Equipped with stabilizers to keep her from rolling in heavy seas; the ferry will make the trip in about 90 minutes; considerably faster than the present service. cars will drive on one end and-after quick trip-off the other end of the double-ended vessel.
