Original Toronto Star caption: Bottomed out: Curious spectators get a close-up look at the Great Lakes freighter Leadale; which sank in the Welland Canal at Thorold Tuesday after slamming into a concrete pier. The Collision left a huge hole in the Vessel's stern; and water flooded the hold. The 30-member crew was evacuated without injury. Divers will attempt to patch the hole; and the hull will be pumped dry; which could take several days. The accident hasn't disrupted shipping on the canal.
