Original Toronto Star caption: Heaviest October snowfall on record downed tree limbs and cut off hydro to homes and traffic lights but caused only a few accidents. No one was hurt when this car crashed on the Queen Elizabeth Way just west of Port Credit. Today's 4.9-inch snowfall topped the 3.3 inches that blanketed the city Oct. 17; 1875; the previous October record. Crews began salting main arteries at 2 a.m.
