Lot 21, Con. 1 East. Yonge 5611. This house stood next to the bank at the corner of Finch and Yonge, south of the site of John Finch's house. John Finch opened a hotel at the corner of Finch and Yonge in 1847, after running the Bird in Hand on lot 22 in the 1830s (leased from John Montgomery). Finch's house stood at 5617 Yonge and was torn down in 1977, at the same time as the house in this photo.
