Original Toronto Star caption: A sudden storm opened this Covewood St. garage like a can of sardines yesterday as it ripped through the Steeles and Bayview area of North York; tearing roofs off at least six houses and uprooting trees. Walter Gardisch; 10; sits in front of his home with sister Michele; 13; and brother Jamie; 5 months. A federal weather forecaster estimated winds hit the 100-mile-per-hour range but said it was not a tornado.
