Original Toronto Star caption: Overseas wickets at Toronto International Airport are deserted as all of the European airlines and the big U.S. carriers stopped flights into Canada; snowballing the controversy over the use of French in air traffic control into an international crisis. Air Canada pilots stopped flying a week ago over their contention that the pressure on the controllers was making the skies unsafe. But until yesterday; the international passenger had been least affected by the tie-ups. Airlines are busing their passengers to points in the U.S. to make connecting flights.
