Original Toronto Star caption: Long-distance lines at Bell Telephone on Adelaide St. W. were busy yesterday; with more than 700 operators putting through Christmas calls. Those to the United Kingdom were most in demand and there was a wait of 9 to 10 hours for them. Operator Gussie Quinton said that she didn't mind working. The money's good and it's New Years Eve that matters to her.
