Original Toronto Star caption: A 40-foot Maple on Avenue Rd. won a court victory yesterday with the first convition on record under the Ontario Trees Act of 1883. The charge was laid by Shirley Strathy; a landscape architecture student; who saw workmen cutting the roots of tree while Brown School was being built.
