Original Toronto Star caption: Love can't find a way, so Canada's department of external affairs has taken up the problem of George Power and his Soviet bride. Power, former secretary in the Canadian embassy at Moscow, married a Russian ballerina in 1945. He has been trying ever since to obtain a visa for her. Hon. Louis St. Laurent told the House of Commons he is still awaiting a reply from Moscow. Other brides of Britons who have been unable to leave the country are, left to right: Ludmila Squire, Clara Hall, Ira Rouley, Inna Price, Rose Henderson, Olga Burke, Nada Bolon and Nata Whitehead.
