Original Toronto Star caption: Announcement of Hon. J. L. Usley; minister of finance; that a wife who earns $600 a year will be treated as a single tax-payer; and her husband as a married one; comes as welcome news to married women at Massey Harris plant. An official of the personnel department stated that war workers some of the women in the 25-pound shell department earn as high as $40 a week; and that they become highly skilled workers who must be kept if production is going to keep its pace.
