Original Toronto Star caption: At the General Engineering Co. plant at Scarboro and the Defence Industries Ltd. plant at Ajax, 3,400 women workers are needed to help make shells so that the guns can be kept in action. Margaret Miller, fuse maker at General Engineering, asks for help to fill the gaps in the line - to keep the guns supplied. Published in Toronto Daily Star, 29 June 1944, page 17, with article ''Normandy looks to Geco, Ajax for barrage shells: 3,400 women needed now to keep cannon firing''.||The 364 acre Geco complex extended South from Eglinton Avenue East to present-day Hymus Road, between Warden Avenue and Birchmount Road, and consisted of 172 buildings.
