Original Toronto Star caption: Cross of sacrifice; The cross of Sacrifice in Prospect cemetary; Toronto; as an eternal symbol for the men of Canada who passed over during the great war; will be raised in replica in Arlington cemetery; Washington; in memory of American born men of the C. E. F. who also marched westward in the great adventure. The cross is of granite; bearing on its face a crusader's sword in bronze; and rising above a solid granite pedestal block. The monument weighs 90;000 lbs; all told; and the base is the shape of an octagon. It was designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield; an eminent British sculptor for the graves of the empire's million dead who died in the great war.
