Original Toronto Star caption: Sneak snowstorm takes Metro by surprise; It was supposed to be rain; perhaps turning to freezing rain later; according to the forecast for today; but Metro got several centimetres of snow instead. However; these stoic downtown businessmen bowed their heads and took it in stride. The Toronto weather office says there could be more snow later in the week; with much colder temperatures.

Outside. Lineman Norm Olan was planning to have a quiet dinner Sunday. But an 'emergency' telephone call abruptly changed his plans. Instead he spent the next 23 hours shinning up and down icy power lines in freezing rain. It didn't take Olan long to see that the so called emergency was, in fact, a disaster.
