Original Toronto Star caption: Overcrowded facilities at the Universal Negro Improvement Association quarters on College St. mean Metro's Blacks are looking for a new community centre. Here, Clem Marshall, a volunteer school teacher, helps youngsters with their evening courses. Construction of a $3 million community centre in the Bathurst St. and Vaughan Rd. area will help alleviate the overtaxed conditions. The new centre is to have housing, a permanent theatre, and office space to centralize Black activities in Metro.
