Original Toronto Star caption: A Canadian first: Taheera Suleman is in her Scarborough home now with her mother, Shireen, and the machine that keeps her alive. At 6 months of age, she became the youngest person in Canada to be sent home on total parenteral nutrition (TPN), a system that feeds her for 12 hours a day through a vein leading to her heart. One day, her mother hopes she'll actually be able to eat something.
