Original Toronto Star caption: She thinks her cop is tops, It was all too much for little Jennifer Brock, 4, to take. After all, her mother, Diane, was one of the first 15 women to graduate as a member of the Ontario Provincial Police force at Moss Park Armories today. Just before the ceremonies started, Jennifer broke ranks, ran past the graduates and hugged her Mommy.

Harbor police scuba divers plunge into the ice-covered water of the harbor; led by 2nd Officer Ernie Norrey (top). Following him are Brian Kennedy; David Bryan and Ulrich Ertle. In the water; only the tops of their heads show (bottom) as they practise holding their breath to conserve air and keep in shape in case a car plunges into the lake. They practise all year; even in 30-degree weather like today.

Mark, a 26-year-old native of Barbados, feels Metro people are much too glum and take life too seriously. You start singing, you feel better, he says.

W. H. Thornburn, chairman of the Toronto Stock Exchange board of governors, sees a small revival of confidence by Canadian investors, but much less than I had expected by this time. He forecasts continued sluggishness in trading until corporate earnings improve. Thornburn thinks there could be new speculation in oil and gas stocks when results of winter drilling become available. Cost-cutting and other controls have prepared brokers for any new storms, he says.

H. S, (Stan) Bond won't retire although he'll soon be 94. He's too old to renew his driver's license so makes his sales calls via bus and streetcar. Bond thinks today's company managers would do a better job if they were given bonuses for boosting profits. His customer say he knows merchandise well.
