Original Toronto Star caption: General Eva Burrows, head of the worldwide 1.5 million-member Salvation Army, visits Toronto on Oct. 8. A welcome to the general at Massey Hall at 7.30 p.m. is among the events in the one-day Toronto visit. While in Canada, Burrows will also visit Winnipeg and Vancouver. The 56-year-old Australian, chosen over six male nominees earlier this year, is only the second woman to hold the Army's top post since the evangelical Christian group was founded in 1865 in London by William Booth.
