Original Toronto Star caption: The parents of Constable Bruce Bindon, who died last week at 22, accept his police college diploma yesterday from Deputy Chief Ackroyd. Bindon, who was to have been married in May, died of diabetes. At the graduation ceremony in Dufferin Armouries in North York, 98 other policeman received diplomas.

Black activist Richard Dildy - who was once arrested for proclaiming Santa a fraud during Toronto's annual Santa Claus parade - is dead at age 47. He died of kidney and liver failure in Wellesley Hospital Friday. The United States-born insurance salesman spent most of his life trying to convince parents to stop telling children that Santa Claus is coming to town. [Incomplete]
