Original Toronto Star caption: Allen at his final official council meeting, William Allen (right), attending his last council meeting as Metro chairman yesterday, talked with True Davidson and William Dennison, Allen, who became Metro chairman in January, 1962 announced last April he was resigning Sept. 29. Metro Executive Committee had asked him to postpone it a day, so he could preside at a council meeting Sept. 30, but the council voted yesterday to keep the schedule and make election of his successor first on agenda Sept. 3.
