Original Toronto Star caption: Every Canadian man, woman and child consumes on average each year the energy equivalent of these 49 barrels of crude oil. Affluent Canadians eat up more energy per capita than Americans. That much oil dwarfs John Armstrong (above), chairman of Imperial Oil, who perches on one barrel with 48 more arrayed behind him. Even at low Canadian prices, before refining, this quantity costs about $440.
