NotesOriginal Toronto Star caption: Ice Boats are out on Frenchman's Bay. The mild winter delayed the start of the ice-boating season on Frenchman's Bay; naar Pickering; but the ice is safe now and sometimes there are 15 or more boats out. Sixteen-year-old Tom Herda skims along at speeds of up to 65 miles an hour in the DN class he and his father built for $500. Ice boats share the bay with snowmobiles; motorcycles and fishermen's huts.
