Original Toronto Star caption: That's fast: Some of the fastest hydroplane racers in the world roared across Lake Ontario yesterday. Blazing at speeds of up to 280 kilometres an hour (175 m.p.h.); the boats looked awesome. Many were fueled with pure methanol and had $1;000 propellers. The Can-Am boats floated low in the water under the weight of their 454-cubic-inch dragster engines.
