Original Toronto Star caption: The start: It was snowmobile race time during weekend at Peterborough as about 15;000 people watched 1;100 entrants from many parts of Canada and the United States compete for Kawartha Cup. It was 12th running of the event; held at Morrow Park. Larry Rugland; 28; of Roseau; Minn.; raced to victory Sunday in men's modified class win the overall championship. He drove for Pols team. His team-mate Don Omdahl was runner.
