These paddlers from the Banook Canoe Club gave it the ol' college try yesterday afternoon; but they fell a bit short in their bid to win the junior men's war canoe final at the Canadian sprint racing canoeing championships. Despite the urgings of captain David Hiltz; the Banook canoe was beaten by a crew from Rideau as the championships drew to a close at Long Pond; Centre Island. That; however; does not mean the paddlers are through for the season; because the world championships are set to go next week in Montreal.
