Original Toronto Star caption: Dissident Soviet writer Grigory Svirsky with his wife; Polina; and son; Efim; 22; chat in their Metro home. Svirsky said Ottawa promised they would be allowed to stay in the country as landed immigrants but now the government has reversed itself and told him they can't. The writer said they have permission to go and live in United States but would prefer to stay here. I like Canadians; he said.
