Original Toronto Star caption: Artist on right track in whitby. Joan Marie Dean; print maker and painter; shows some of her work on display until Sept. 25 at the Whitby Arts Centre. She also is involved in a pilot program with Durham Region Board of Education; teaching art at Whitby Senior Public School. The arts centre is housed in an old railway station - an example of a form of architecture that is fast disappearing from the Canadian scene. It was built by the Grand Trunk in 1903 and served until 1970 when citizens saved it from demolition.
