Original Toronto Star caption: Toronto has become one of the most rapidly moving construction centres in North America over the last 10 years. Builders develop entire; communities on former farmland as house; townhouse; and apartment buildings spring up side by side; as in Don Mills; above. Towers from 40 to 60 storeys will become commonplace in the years ahead; say the experts. Next year the building boom will continue.

Uncle Frank Dawson tends to one of his injured wildfowl at his 3 3/4-acre conservation area on Elmcrest Rd. The 83-year-old bachelor has been patching up injured birds for as long as anyone can remember. With a small creek running through the back, his property has become a haven for hundreds of waterfowl. He has lived in the same house for over 50 years and has raised a varietyof birds. But Dawson can't recall when people started to bring birds to him, he said.

There's nothing there for the younger person. There's no industry. There's nothing. Over half the town is made up of pnsioners. His father is one of them. Sanford's 11 brothers and sisters are scattered across North America, from Texas to British Columbia.

Hundreds of rocks are displayed in the mineralogy department laboratory of the Royal Ontario Museum as Dr. Joseph Mandarino, head of the department, talks with 13-year-old Steven Berdock. Steven began collecting specimens two years ago and is proud of the display he has at home. The museum's collection is one of the fienst in North America and among the best ten in the world.
