Original Toronto Star caption: William Liga; six years old; only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Liga; Wascana Ave.; was drowned yesterday while playing on the bank of the Don river just north of Queen St. The drowning occurred in deep water. There is no guard rail on the bank of the river and railroad tracks are only a few yards away. Two of William's school chums with whom he was playing Tarzan witnessed the drowning. Douglas Lamarche; Amelia St.; a passerby; dived in an unsuccessful effort to rescue the boy.
