Original Toronto Star caption: ''I am enclosing pictures of Belwood Village, a large party of which may practically be wiped out if the construction of a 75-foot dam near Fergus as a part of the Grand River Conservation Scheme goes through. The Globe and Mail will be using similar pictures tomorrow morning, I understand, so thought this would be a chance to scoop them on this. #1. A few of the stones on the main street of Belwood which will be flooded out by a lake which will be formed behind the conservation dam. #2. A general view of the village of Belwood, in which about 31 buildings are expected to be affected by the lake. The bridge shown will likely have to be raised 15 feet. Please return to Mendell, Guelph.''
