Original Toronto Star caption: They're right at home with trains; The old CP Rail station on Hensall Circle in Mississauga has been home to Lorne Heslip; a Toronto grocery-store manager; and his son; Shawn; for the past year; and they say the noise of the busy tracks 10 yards away is something a person can get sort of used to; Heslip recently convinced Mississauga the station has some historical significance; besides being his home; and should not be torn down.

Looking over Toronto's railway yards, Sanford Duplassie, 25, left White River in June when CP Rail laid off workers. There's a future here, he says. Only one of his friends has remained in the north. There's nothing there for the younger person. There's no industry. There's nothing. Over half the town is made up of pnsioners. His father is one of them. Sanford's 11 brothers and sisters are scattered across North America, from Texas to British Columbia.
