Original Toronto Star caption: Glory faded: The most imposing building in Newcastle when it was built in 1904; the town hall is now in some disrepair. It was built in a style known as Beaux Arts; which originated in Paris. Inside it contains a 500-seat auditorium with stage and balcony for touring shows.
