Original Toronto Star caption: To-day a 4,500 tons of scrap steel on the ice of Niagara Gorge; Niagara's ice jam pushed Falls View bridge from its foundations; then held firm while it came down in a heap. The upper gorge holds this wreckage of a 40-year-old bridge which engineers say might have lasted another 35 years.
