Original Toronto Star caption: Commuting in reverse is the order of the day at the army's new Central Command headquarters in Oakville. Lack of accomodation in the town and lack of money and materials for quarters has necessitated a daily bus service to Toronto for the staff. The 20-acre property; once an orphanage and later a C.W.A.C. convalescent depot; the new headquarters opened for business Oct. 1. Maj.-Gen. Chris Vokes is in command with a skeleton staff to operate both reserve and active army units in military districts 1;2 and 3.
