Original Toronto Star caption: 3;000 can swim at once in new pool. The biggest swimming pool in Ontario; a 1.4-acre saucer-shaped pool that has room for 3;000 bathers at one time; opened Saturday in the new Petticoat Creek Conservation Area in Pickering. The pool was officially opened June 25; but technical problems kept it closed to the public until this past weekend. Twelve lifeguards are on duty at the pool; which is six feet deep in the centre. The 1 million gallons of water is pumped in and out three times a day. Beach is near.
