Original Toronto Star caption: One of two historic houses the province plans to return to private ownership on the site of the North Pickering housing development is the eight-room Major house in the hamlet of Whitevale. It was built by the son of the founder of the village of Major; now Whitevale. The frame house was built in the 1850s.
