Original Toronto Star caption: This is a picture of the temporary dam at Kettle river; Port Stanley; taken before the catastrophe last night which snatched the lives of eight workmen. The bridge seen in the photo is the old one; being replaced by the new one on which the men were working. Shown also are the dredge; and the construction buildings on the bank of the river. When a steel cable broke; the entire temporary dam fell in; burying the eight men beneath it.
