Original Toronto Star caption: Pedestrian bridge to link giant stores. In about three hours; two giant steel girders were welded and bolted into place early yesterday to link Simpsons and Toronto Eaton Centre. Beams; 95 and 110 feet long; form base for a pedestrian bridge between two department store giants. An underground walkway also will connect the 950;000-square-foot Simpson store with the 1.5-million-square-foot Eaton's project when centre's second phase is completed next August. Decking and concrete will be laid this week.
