Ed Mirvish's giant sign on his expanded discount store at Bloor and Bathurst Sts. is nearing completion; giving the area a bit of a Las Vegas look. The flashing neon sign is 10 metres (30 feet) high but it won't be blazing away 24 hours and day. After nearby residents complained about the red; white and yellow whirling lights; Mirvish agreed to start dimming the sign at 9:30 P.M. and turn it off completely at midnight. mirvish was under no legal obligation to make the changes.
