The majestic beasts pulled plows and harvesters; hauled produce to market; provided bareback-riding thrills and made the best fertilizer for the orchards. In wartime; the powerful and fast Percherons hauled the gun carriages and other artillery pieces. In cities; they pulled brewery wagons. Today; they; the Belgians and the Clydesdales can hardly be found outside a show ring. Don Brown (left); brother; Ken; harness up Percherons at Winter Fair.
