Original Toronto Star caption: Hurt fighting a fire in a restaurant on Adelaide St. east of Yonge St. last night; fireman Earl Daynes is carried out on a stretcher by ambulance crewmen Tom Alston (left) and Clarence Nolan. Nine firemen were treated in hospital; including three who had been pinned under a collapsed concrete-block wall in a basement filled with smoke. They were rescued by fellow firemen who removed the wall block by block while a fire-weakened floor sagged over them.
