Original Toronto Star caption: About 600,000 tons of garbage is dumped each year at a land-fill site on Bearer Rd. which will become a Scarborough park. At the end of the day, a six-inch soil cover is added. Land-fill has improved some Metro parks and created a ski hill in Etobicoke. But land-fill sites are getting scarce. Beare Road Landfill, bounded by Finch Avenue East to the north, Scarborough-Pickering Town line to the east, hydro corridor to the south, and CN rail line to the west.
