Original Toronto Star caption: What a water Hazard! Second Officer Masafami Murakami of the Japanese freighter Cuba Maru gets in some golf practice while his ship is tied up at Pier 27 in Toronto harbor for two weeks; being refitted to carry grain. Murakami has attached his ball to 40 feet of fishing line; just in case a bad slice sends it into the rough-the lake.

Next stop; Lima. Toronto dock workers load one of 25 buses decommissioned by the Toronto Transit Commission on to a freighter at Pier 51 near Cherry St. and Unwin Ave. yesterday. The buses; taken out of service after 18 years; and two city garbage trucks are bound for Lima; Peru.

Anchor aground: An old anchor looms in the foreground and mist rises off the water as Toronto harbor gets an early foretaste of the quiet days of winter. The harbor was busier this year than last; but things slow down to a crawl when winter really takes hold and the St. Lawrence Seaway and Welland Canal close for the season. Shipping usually stops at the end of December.
