Original Toronto Star caption: Cooling it for the winter. In case you were wondering; shipping activity has pretty well closed down for the winter for all sizes of watercraft in Toronto harbor. A small pleasure craft; above; sits on the dock; after being lifted out of the water for the winter; while the larger Canadian Olympic; of Upper Lakes Shipping Ltd.; sits in the water along with other lake ships in the shipping channel and turning basin to the east of Yonge Street.

Anchor aground: An old anchor looms in the foreground and mist rises off the water as Toronto harbor gets an early foretaste of the quiet days of winter. The harbor was busier this year than last; but things slow down to a crawl when winter really takes hold and the St. Lawrence Seaway and Welland Canal close for the season. Shipping usually stops at the end of December.
