Glebe Hotel, Yonge Street, northeast corner of Glebe Road East, Toronto, Ontario
Toronto Star published caption: North Toronto ancient landmark passes away. The picture shows the old property at the corner of Glebe Road and Yonge street, which was known about sixty years ago as the Glebe Hotel. It has been condemned by the Health Department and is being pulled down to-day as a result. Originally it started as a hotel by a man named Wilson, who later sold it to James Crooks, who conducted one of the leading hotels on Yonge street in the old days. The Warren family, who at one time operated the Metropolitan railway, acquired the property when it ceased to be a hotel. Some years ago it passed into the hands of the Dovercourt Land Company and later the Sterling Trust Company. The property has recently been purchased by Weisiller and Mackenzie Bros., who, it is stated, are to build eight stores and apartments on the site.
