Original Toronto Star caption: Dome of Ontario Hospital set on fire by lightning bolt. A bolt of lightning in the thunderstorm which hit Toronto to-day struck the dome of the Ontario hospital; Queen St. W.; setting it afire. Fearing for the safety of the asylum's 1;090 patients a second alarm was rung in. As a result of the swift arrival of fire-fighting equipment; little damage was done to the dome; which is seen in the photograph; as firemen got the blaze under control. the lightning punctured the roof of the cupola and blew the windows out. It was an act of God; said Dr C.H. Lewis; in charge of the hospital in the absence of the superintendent; Dr. R.C. Montgomery.
