Original Toronto Star caption: Degrading and inhuman were two of the descriptions used to describe the Andrew Mercer Reformatory for Women on King near Dufferin St. Wreckers are tearing the place down and it's costing more to raze it than it did to build it. Aside from the regular cells shown here there were windowless dungeon cells. The residents of Mercer were transferred to Brampton's Vanier Centre on April 3.
