Original Toronto Star caption: Lord willingdon officially pronounces the royal york hotel opened. The board of trade luncheon to President E. W. Beatty of the C.P.R. in the main dining room of the Royal York hotel this afternoon marked the formal opening of the huge hostelry. Photo shows Lord Willingdon (standing at the head table) officially pronouncing the new hotel open to the public. On the left of the governor-general (that is; on his right) are E. W. Beatty; Hon. G. Howard Ferguson; Hon. Frederick L. Beique; Sir John Aird. On the right side are shown the chairman; John A. Tory; president of the board of trade. Sir William Mulock; Sir Herbert Holt; Sir Joseph Flavelle and other guests of honor.
