Original Toronto Star caption: Island gas mains washed out. Many Island residents were handicapped yesterday when a gas main was broken by waves of a southeast gale which pounded the shore. Early yesterday the gas was turned off but at noon the gas company gave service west of the break. At midnight; the gas company reported that the break had been repaired and the whole island was getting its regular supply of gas again. [Incomplete]
